Hello all!
Time for a quick update of our happenings.
Chris is rehearsing for 'Oleanna' at the moment with Openscript, to be performed in Aylesbury very soon. A lot of travelling back and forth is required, but it is so worth it.
Check it out on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/Openscript
I am off to Salisbury on Thursday evening to perform "How High?" again at the Salisbury Playhouse on Friday and Saturday, and on Saturday next week we are performing in Oxford. So if you're in the area, come see it! https://uk.patronbase.com/_SalisburyPlayhouse/Productions/2UU/Performances
We also performed our play about Samuel Pepys and London for the second time last week. We were asked back to Twydall Primary to perform to their year 2 classes, and this time with a slightly rewritten script. There are now four actors. We were joined by professional actress Ros Parker who we are hoping to work with a lot more in the future.
http://rosalindparker.co.uk/actress-cv/ We also fulfilled one of our aims! Something we aim to do is to give our young members, who are keen to work in the theatre, the opportunity to work with us professionally. This time Nathalie Sharpe joined us in our Pepys show and she did a wonderful job. May there be many more such opportunities!
Our classes are going very well and the youngsters never fail to surprise and impress us. The 5-8s class have become very confident and they are as always full of ideas.
The 9-13s are devising a piece where Snow White and Tinkerbell kidnap Bubbles, the Powerpuff girl. Imagination gone wild yet again.
The Musical Theatre group are working on their Dr Who musical. We are having lots of fun improvising a Dalek teddybear picnic and playing Weeping Angels, a terrifying game.
The Actor's Space, our touring group, is beyond exciting. We will be working on and filming small scripts written by local people to be added to our YouTube channel. This is a stopgap before we get the decision on our funding application for our October tour. We are planning a small scale tour of village halls in Kent offering a workshop and a performance to areas where theatre might not normally travel.
We are also in the process of developing another series of workshops for schools, but that's for another time. ;-) So all in all, we're quite busy!
Stay in touch all! Good night!
